BONJOUR!!!!!
Haha oh mother you crack me up. I can't wait to speak "French" with you!! Haha. But I realized this week I need to focus on my French a little more! I've become a little comfortable with it. I can understand everything, and say what I want to say but there is still a lot I do not know and I want to. So I'll be doing language study a lot this transfer I think!!
WHOS READY TO HEAR ABOUT MY EPIC WEEK??.... ALWAYS!!!!
Well seriously WHAT A WEEK!! It has been absolutely amazing. We have been able to see all of our Amis and we had ALOT of lunches and dinners with members, we have seen miracles and a lot of progression this last week!!! AHHH I just love it.
So in Monday we had another zone p- day as it was the very last of this transfer. And we ended up playing table tennis...and err guess who won.... MOI!! Hahaha!! It was a proud moment of mine...(I've still got it,) haha!! Anyway that is not important..but I just wanted you to know...that when I come home in the summer...the champion is still standing (although I think Lauren was the champion last year...but anyway!!)
MIRACLE DAY- on Tuesday we had an absolute MIRACLE day!! We saw FIVE of our Amis in one day!! I think it was actually one of the best days I've had in my mission so far. It was just non stop. It was full of teaching, and the spirit. We had some really special moments with our Amis, and we are really seeing them progress in the gospel and coming unto Christ! It's an incredible thing, to see someone change through accept Christ and centering their lives more fully on him. We were able to invite two of our Amis to fix a baptism date too! We were able to find out some of the barriers and fears that are keeping them from accepting baptism too! It was miracles all day! We finished that day, exhausted but completely filled with the spirit and gratitude for our Heavenly Father who helped us A TON that day (everyday) but we really felt it especially!!
So our ami,! Came to a big activity this week. Which was a miracle in itself because the thing she needs is friends in the church, she needs that support system! So it was so great and everyone was so welcoming and AHHH it was just so awesome. It was the step she needed to take, and she took it!! I can't wait to see her progress even more!!
We studied with her 3rd nephi:11!! (My absolute FAVOURITE) ... We really tried to bring the scriptures alive for her! We read a few verses and would stop and then discuss and share our feelings! Really picturing ourselves in the nephites position, we put her in the moment, seeing Christ and touching his wounds. And it was such a spiritual experience for all of us. We were actually close to tears! My FAVOURITE words in this chapter is that they go to Christ "one by one"... I know the day will come, when we will see him, and go, one by one and touch his wounds, and see that he is. Now that brings a huge smile to my face!!
Wednesday was our primary teaching day! Haha you know I told you we teach like 3, nine year olds here! Well we taught them all on Wednesday! Haha. It was a cute day! We taught how we need to follow in Jesus' footsteps! We draw around their feet and in the foot we wrote how we can be more like him and follow what he did. It went really well! I find that we always say "follow Jesus" and it seems so far away, because let's face it, we are not perfect, but he is! And that perfection seems a long way away. But something I have learnt on my mission, is that yes perfection is the goal. It's far away. But our example of perfection, Jesus Christ. He is not far. He is the perfect teacher. And he will help us reach perfection and only he can get us there. He is not far, he is right beside us. I know he helps me so much everyday, he lifts me up when times get tough, he is the reason I am here in a mission, because I just love him so much and I know he loves me.
So we taught a less active family this week and they have a nine year old...and oh my days. I have found Nathan's double. It was so weird! When he prayed, when he spoke and answered the questions...it was NATE!! It was so weird but so cute. I can wait to see you Nathan at Christmas (and all of you!) haha!!
PROUD MOMENT...I realized something this week. (Don't worry it's not another fish eating moment...although I'm scared for Christmas here in France, because they eat fish and snails!!!! AHHH...pray for me. Haha).... So I realized this week that I eat anything now. Mum you will appreciate this, I realize how picky I was before. Haha. Now anything that is in front of me, I just eat it....a mission really does change you in some many different ways!!! Hahahahaha...anyway mum I hope your proud. And you'll love me when I get back, I'll eat anything!!!
MIRACLE!!!- I COMPLETELY FORGOT TO TELL YOU LAST WEEK. I DONT KNOW HOW I FORGOT, BUT OUR AMI GOT BAPTIZED THIS WEEK!!!! It was in Saturday!!!! It was another special moment of my mission. And they too have the goal next year to be sealed for eternity in the temple. Ahhhhhhh miracles of a mission. It's been so great to work with him for the last six weeks!!
It was cool as well, before his baptism we met with him and they were telling us how they had been having doubts, because of everything happening in the world, and just a lot of things, they have been receiving a lot of opposition from family etc. but during the week we had sent over a scripture for them to read together. And they said we sent it at the perfect moment. They read it, and it took away all of the doubts they were having. And they RECEIVED strength again!! I think that's amazing, I know we were truly inspired by God to send that specific reference to them!! I love running errands for the lord!!
On Friday we had an interesting day..,,haha it hasn't rained since I've been here in annemasse. And I think all the rain decided to come in Friday, it completely chucked it down. And it was the one day we decided to do some porting to try and find more people here. Haha you can just imagine us. It was chucking it down and windy. We come knocking on your door, we are soaked and our hair is...hagrid style. Hahaha. A lot of people had sympathy for I think, so it worked to our advantage! Mwahaha. Haha. It did bring me back to my good old England though. English weather. Got to love it.
IT SNOWED THIS WEEK!!! Wooooooooo. Not too much, but it was so pretty and we are supposed to get a lot of snow, so maybe we will have a white Christmas this year!!
I AM SO EXCITED FOR THIS NEXT TRANSFER. I can't believe it has come along already. But sooooo many things are happening. We have CHRISTMAS!!! I get to see you and speak with you!! We already have Christmas appointments set up with members here. We are taking care if so good here. We have so many Christmas activities too, because we over the two wards so double whammy. Haha!! And we found out today, we are having a huge mission conference for Christmas, we are all being together the 22nd of December for a huge conference with the whole mission!!! AHHH!! I get to see everyone. I CANNOT WAIT!!!! And then New Years too! Wow. TOO MUCH EXCITEMENT.
OH yeah I forgot....so transfer calls!!!! Haha..DUN DUN DUNNNNN.... I am staying here in annemasse, I AM SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO HAPPY. I love it here so much. I've only been here one transfer and I'm already bringing you all back here. These people are INCREDIBLE. And I love them soooo much!! But the sad thing...is sister Andersen is leaving meeee. Noooo!!! (I need to find my way around. Ah!) haha. I am now with sister stapley (I havent met her yet.) all I know is she is from California, my very first American companion! This should be fun! Haha! And she is coming to the end of her mission, she only has two left! But I'm so excited!
Last night we had the best last night with the a family (I'll send pictures) for sister Anderson. They are an epic family here. We are the famous raclette. And played games, sang Christmas songs (it's never too early) haha. It was just great, they are a family you will be DEFINATELY meeting in the future!!
STUDY TIME- I know your ready...
Reading in third nephi, chapter 10. Versus 14. "He that hath the scriptures, let him search them..." I looked at the foot it's under the word "search" and it led me to the topical guide unders "scriptures, study of..." And THAT led me to Joshua 1:8 which says "... Meditate Therin day and night ...do all that is written...then thou shalt have good success..." ... We have the recorded words of prophets, called by God, to teach us his word. We have the scriptures, read them. Everyday. Don't just read search these treasures!! And do what you find, live what you believe. And you will find good succes. On a mission a day doesn't go by when we don't have time set aside to study our scriptures. I know, I know, I'm on a mission ITS A WHOLE LOT EASIER!! BUT no matter how busy your day may be, it's ALWAYS possible to fit in scripture study, always!!!
My ponderizing this week: Joshua 1:9 - be courageous and be brave in any situation!
Quote of the week, I got from an elder: " when the train gets dark and goes through a tunnel, you don't get off and throw away the ticket, you sit still and trust the engineer!.."
I loved this. We will all have difficult times. We have been told that they will come, because they are why we are here, to be tested. But we don't quit when they come. We don't throw away everything we know to be true and good just because we struggle. We hold on tight, and we trust the engineer. We trust him who knows us all perfectly.
My family, I can't express how much I love you guys. You really are my heroes every week. I am so excited for these next 9 months on my mission. Serving in place of savior. What a responsibility!! It's huge, and I know I don't fit the jacket. But it's a great feeling to know that I am not alone doing his works, he is guiding me and all the missionaries around the world. We are never alone. We are safe in his hands. The work is safe in his hands. And step by step the "jacket".. The call is becoming more and more comfortable. We learn ALOT during these 18-24 months. The knowledge we attain is more than I could of ever hoped for. Not intellectual, but spiritual! I have grown so spiritually, every missionary, every member grows spiritually when you give yourself to him! I love this journey do life, isn't is just so beautiful? His great it is to be alive. There are problems in the world. But look at the good, look at the wonderful people. The miracles. Family. Everything. There is always good to be found!!! Find the good in everyday. And just be happy. Ohhhh...and know that I love you so much.
Have another incredible week!!!
LOVE YOUR ONE AND ONLY....
