Bonjour!
Another week has gone by!!!! It's so crazy!! So being in Renens means YES I can go and see Anne charlottes baptism!!!! Wooooo!! So we have a baptism this weekend in Renens too!! So that's exciting!! So my new companion, she has been out for just over a year! She is actually just two transfers ahead of me in the mission. She is great. Hilarious. And her testimony is wonderful!! So my French has to improve SURELY!! As my companion doesn't speak any English .... I find myself speaking English to myself ...but it's so great! Because it's really stretching me!!
haha I was waiting for when you would ask me if any doors are slammed in my face. I do just like to put all the positive things in my emails because it is what I enjoy the most. Haha. But of course I've had doors slammed, people laughing, and mean people. But it's missionary work. As I weigh up the blessings I have had and the miracles I see every week, there's no point saying the not so nice things, because they don't compare!! Haha but I think I'm a bit different, if a door gets slammed, or someone says something horrible I actually laugh...it makes me laugh for some reason!! Haha I probably shouldn't laugh but you know me!!
So Switzerland. I will write more in next week’s email as I don't have time this week. But food wise...it's really famous just for the cheese and the chocolate. And salad every meal. Haha. Ermmm....they love cows. It's like the sign of Switzerland, cows. "Vaches". ERM and there's a really weird instrument they play in Switzerland maybe you can search it. ERM grannies ride scooters. Ahahaha!!! There's a hymn that is just French, "sovien toi" it's really beautiful! But of course I will send why I love it etc next week!! :) hope that's ok!
My new flat is nice! It's more open, huge living room area, with our desks etc! The beds are not very comfortable!! Hahaha but I think we are getting new ones, because we wake up with back pain every morning!! Haha!! But it's great! It has a lift so we don't have to climb the stairs every morning..that's lovely! Haha!! We only have one day every two weeks to do our washing though, so I'm hand washing my underwear!! etc! Haha! But it's great!
RENENS is AWESOME. I love it so much already!! The people make an area. And we have some really great Amis. And the members are epic!!! So I'm so happy!!
Soooooo who's ready for sister Fagg first week in RENENS!!! Here we GOOOOO....
Firstly I don't know if I said but sister wilsher is now back near me, in Geneva, and we have a conference in a couple of weeks AND I AM BEYOND EXCITED TO SEE HER!!.. Just so you know..haha anywho..
RENENS- the members are so cool. Sooooo friendly. They can understand my French, haha so that's nice I can communicate with all the members!!! Haha! The bishop is cool as well!
FUNNY MOMENT- we were walking down this hill, and a car drove past us and a lady was driving BELTING out a Whitney Houston song, at the TOP of her lungs!!! Like seriously it was hilarious, and we start laughing. And then we get to the traffic lights and the same car has been stopped by the red light and she is still going for it. It was funnier than what I'm explaining it to be...but then we get eye contact and it was a member from the Lausanne ward!! HAHAHAHAHA she sped off !!! AHHH it was just hilarious...I just love moments like that!!
BUT anyway...so FIRST DAY...CONTACTING MIRACLES!!!! We contacted the first guy and he had been taught by the elders a few years ago, we actually ended up sharing a scripture with him from the Book of Mormon, and he said he felt the same spirit then, when he was being taught before. It was so cool. We are seeing him again tomorrow.
THEN the second man we contacted, found out he has a BESTFRIEND in Portugal who is a member of our church. But he had never spoken to the missionaries, always wanted to. We gave him a Book of Mormon.
For the 1000000th time Heavenly Father guides this work. Haha I've said that sooo much .BUT ITS SO TRUE!!! I cannot explain the feeling I get when we contact and you just KNOW you have been here, at this place at this time for this reason. It's beautiful! It's my FAVOURITE thing!!!!
ANOTHER FUNNY MOMENT- actually this was the funniest lesson I e ever had on my mission so far. We shared a video with a member and his non member wife, we were discussing the video we had just watched and I go to speak...I say "something that I love about.." And he cuts me off and just says "well..sisters..thank you so much for your message, may God bless you, in the name of Jesus Christ amen." HAHAHAHAHA I was like wait what?...is it finished or do I continue. I couldn't help but laugh because it was so funny! I continued and he did it again (apparently he does it all the time...but I wasn't warned beforehand so it was hilarious to me!!)
STUDY- I read a talk this week in the liahona "families and prayer" - how praying as a family can bless your children and their future generations etc!! "Never forget that a loving God is as close as a prayer" - in your emails this week, a few of you mentioned the power of prayer. Prayer is essential. It really is, and I'm so grateful for you and dad making prayer an essential part of our home. And I am going to do the same!!! I love you,
FHE- we had a fhe with a young couple, they have two ADORABLE little girls. And she is a member and her husband is not, he comes to church every week, prays and reads with his children etc. and is so lovely. You would think he was. We shared our message about the temple, and eternal families, and it really touched him. He explained how beautiful it is to him and how much he wants it. But he said one day I will be baptised. But he has a few things...yeah that doesn't matter..but it was so powerful to see a message and the spirit touch someone so strongly. As we watched the temple video he and his wife just kept smiling and looking at each other!!!
One of our Amis this week asked us one of the most commonly asked questions, and one of the most important, "how can I know which church is true? When you are telling me you are true and I have another church telling me the same thing etc..." The spirit was so strong as we invited her to pray, sincerely and ask directly. For herself!! She committed to do it.
Alma 37:44-45 .. << that is why we must diligently study the scriptures!!!!
D&C 130:19- get the advantage!!!! :)
We have a baptism this Saturday!! He is so cool! I'm very excited..he has actually asked me to speak at his baptism. Haha so wish me luck with that one, I will send pictures for sure!!
"The gospel is not weight, it is wings. It lifts us." LOVED THIS. It truly does lifts us to heights unimaginable!!!!
Elder Richard g Scott :" do you take time to discover each day how beautiful your life can be?" Ask this!! It's so important not to focus on the difficulties, and things that cloud our view. Even though that is the natural thing to do. Look and see the beautiful things in your life!!
Sorry im like bombarding you with my studies this week haha...but I read this lyrics in the church magazine "though there are times that try my faith and bring me to my knees, no matter what it's exactly what I need, so I count my blessings one by one and I can't help but smile, and I feel so grateful in my heart, it's so good to be alive!!!"
- I loved it soooo much. Because how good is it to be alive!!!! We are so lucky. We are living in the greatest generation!! We are running the last leg of the race!!!! It's SO good to be alive!!!!!
HAVE ANOTHER INCREDIBLE WEEK.
KNOW I LOVE YOU SOOOO MUCH.
tous les jours je t'aime plus!!!!
LOVE YOUR ONE AND ONLY...
